Mitchell Roberts - Director of Bands
Mitchell Roberts was appointed the Director of Bands at Hiram High School in 2020. Mr. Roberts joined the faculty of Hiram High School as Assistant Band Director in the Fall of 2017 and served in that capacity until 2020. At Hiram High School, Mr. Roberts is responsible for instructing the award winning "Band of Gold" marching band, 2 concert ensembles, a jazz band and various other chamber ensembles. In Spring 2022, Mr. Roberts was named STAR Teacher for Hiram High School. Before joining the faculty of Hiram High School, he served five years at Herschel Jones Middle School in Dallas, Georgia as Director of Bands and one year at South Paulding High School in Douglasville, Georgia as Assistant Band Director. Mr. Roberts was awarded the prestigious "Citation of Excellence" from the National Band Association following the Hiram Wind Symphony's performance at the 2023 Southeastern United State Band Clinic at Troy University.
Mr. Roberts earned his Bachelor of Music Education (2009) and Master of Music (2012) from Reinhardt University. While at Reinhardt, Mr. Roberts studied euphonium with Harry Maddox and conducting with Dr. Thomas Fraschillo and Dr. David Gregory. While attending Reinhardt University, Mr. Roberts was a member of the wind ensemble, concert choir, symphony orchestra, brass quintet, low brass and percussion ensembles.
Mr. Roberts' professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Band Association, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators and Phi Kappa Lambda. Mr. Roberts resides in Dallas, Georgia with his wife Shea and their children Nolan and Lydia.
While attending the University of West Georgia, Mr. Rolader was very active in the music department playing in multiple ensembles and winning many awards. Mr. Rolader played in the UWG Wind Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band. Outside of the University of West Georgia, Mr. Rolader was heavily involved in the music world. Mr. Rolader has been teaching the Hiram High School Marching Band and has been on staff since the summer of 2018. Mr. Rolader completed his student teaching at Hiram High School during the spring semester of 2022. In the summer of 2017, Mr. Rolader marched Contra with the Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps. During his high school career, Mr. Rolader was a member of the Newnan High School Wind Ensemble that was invited to play at the Music For All Festival hosted by Georgia State University. He marched in the Newnan High School Marching Band along with the Newnan Winds Winterguard Competitive Band while in High School.
Mr. Rolader’s professional affiliations include memberships with the Collegiate National Association for Music Education and Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity where he held many positions on the executive council including President, Vice President, and Recruitment Chairman. Mr. Rolader currently resides in Newnan, Ga.
